The aim of EasyGate
- To smoothen the flows on container terminals and to have additional flows without resizing operative teams
- To direct operative teams towards tasks that have higher added value (quality controls, etc…)
- To size human and material resources according to the activity flow
- To increase attractiveness of container terminals from other terminals
- To reduce operators’ response time (date recording…)
- To progressively automatize operations on the terminal
Genesis of the project and constatations on container terminals
- There are digital tools for Supply Chain players to follow flow of goods in and out of terminals (e.g.: AP+...) but they do not enable following the flows inside terminals because everything has not been digitalized yet, and IT systems are not up-to-date
- Some road shippers, which are the main users of port terminals, are left apart
- Data on goods going in or out are recorded on paper, which leads to retyping on non-interfaced systems
- Low added-values tasks are not automatized
- Activity flows are not anticipated, and it is difficult to size operational resources
